As a mom of now 2 littles, I am constantly on the search for fun activities that would keep our family out of the house and trying new things as well as meeting other families in the community. Small world was born with the idea to create one space that could curate something for everyone whether that be storytime at the local library, music class in the park, holiday celebrations, and more (not to mention a lot of these activities are free). I love putting these newsletters together but as I do this in my (sparingly) free moments, I’d love for this community to grow into a resource that all families can depend on and use for their weekly activity guide, please share this with a friend/caregiver/family or anyone that would find this useful!

🐟 Celebrate Día de los Muertos @ Heal The Bay Aquarium
About: Commemorate Día de los Muertos with Heal the Bay all weekend long. Visit the Aquarium to add a memento of your loved ones to our Día de los Muertos Ofrenda, create colorful Día de los Muertos crafts, and much more! Our Ofrendas will be displayed from November 1, 2024 through November 3, 2024, to commemorate this important cultural holiday.

☠️ DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS CELEBRATION AT SANTA MONICA PIER
About: The Santa Monica Pier will celebrate Día de Los Muertos with a vibrant two-day art installation from November 1st to 2nd, 2024. This family-friendly event honors the meaningful connections within the Santa Monica community, featuring a community altar and stunning creations by local artists Sylvia Sanchez and Daniel Alonzo. The celebration will also showcase Letters of Life, inviting attendees to share cherished memories of loved ones. These heartfelt tributes will be displayed in digital murals around the historic 100-year-old Carousel, creating a beautiful tapestry of remembrance. Join us for this unforgettable celebration!

🎥Outdoor Movie Screening: ‘It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ @ Ashland Hill Main Street
About: Main Street will be celebrating Halloween all weekend long! Join us in the Ashland Hill parking lot this Sunday, November 3rd for TWO outdoor movies. Starting at 6PM with a showing of ‘It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown’ followed by ‘Ghostbusters’. Limited seating. FREE!

💫 Cosmic Connections: Family Workshop @ Getty Center
About: In the Middle Ages, scientists calculated the position of the stars and planets using tools like volvelles (wheel charts) and mechanical astrolabes. Learn more about these fascinating instruments and create a volvelle to discover your medieval zodiac sign, related planet, constellation, and more. Free!

About: Set in a fantasy Medieval milieu "long, long ago," a lovely and spirited Beauty takes charge of her fate and molds herself a most endearing, and definitely un-scary, Beast. Ditzy sisters, a befuddled sire, and a flamboyantly foppish suitor strew more than a few thorns along Beauty and her Beast's arduous, and ardor-ous, path, but loves wins out, allowing all to find their happily-ever-afters and proving that beauty is as beauty does and beauty is, and always will be, in the eye of the beholder.
